Some quick meal inspiration

Not every meal is worthy of a full blown recipe, but I still like to over share. I'm going to give you guys some quick meal ideas.

I hope this gives you some inspiration

Pork chops were baked at 350* for 30 minutes, then topped with pesto sauce. Tomatoes were sliced and then marinated in olive oil, basil, and salt while the pork chops cooked. Sweet potato was sliced into thick chips and fried in a tiny bit of oil for a couple of minutes on each side.

Sandwich was made with a whole wheat bread with high fiber, and slightly lower carbs than most brands (nature's own is featured above). Consists of cream cheese, cucumber, tomato, turkey, capers, and red cabbage sauerkraut.

Salad made with: Cucumbers, tomato, radish, onion, romaine, goat feta, and homemade dressing. Dressing is red wine vinegar, olive oil, italian spices, and garlic: blended.

Half egg white, half regular egg omelett stuffed with turkey bacon, tomato, spinach and red onion. topped with cheddar cheese (reduced fat).

We're human, most nights we don't feel like making some big imaginative meal, but it doesn't have to be fast food or pizza either.

Book Review: The Devil Wears Prada

One of my goals for 2013 was to read 24 book. They can be re-reads, but I'm really trying to make them all new books (or at least 24 of them).

This segways into a great feature I'd like to do. Book Reviews!

The types of books I read range from young adult, typical girly frivolous type titles, historical fiction, fantasy, classics, and everything in between.

So I'l start with a typical girly frivolous type novel.

The Devil Wears Prada
by: Lauren Weisberger

Summary:
Andy Sachs is a recent college grad, living in New York City. She somehow lands a job at prestigious "Runway Magazine." According to everyone it's the "Job a million girls would die for." For Andy it's just a gateway to someday getting a serious writing position in a place like The New Yorker. However, she finds herself still bedning over backwards for her crazy demanding boss, Miranda Priestly. Going on coffee runs, being forced to find things like a review for a Chinese restaurant, without even being told where the article was published. But, she pushes on, and starts destroying her personal life, in an effort to make it through a One year sentence. She hears that after one year as Miranda Priestly's assistant, she can get a job anywhere. Andy soon has to chose between her career and her friends and family. Will she make the right choice?

What I liked:
It's a fun read! It's easy to get through, has some of those blatantly obvious 'life lesson' type story lines, and the writing isn't actually half bad.

How it differs from the Movie:
The story line is actually pretty different. I'll make a few quick points.

1. The actual physical appearance of everyone in the novel is wildly different from the movie, but this really doesn't effect the plot line much.
2. The book is generally more adult than the movie. There's some cussing, smoking, drinking, and "adult behavior".
3. The ending is different, but both are great.

Do  I recommend it?
Absolutely! It's a great fun read. check it out!

A New Order

Hi All!

I've decided to switch over to blogger from Wordpress, hence the new blog address.

I'm sorry for the long absence, but I really wanted to work harder on making this a more streamlined and better design. This is also going to include hopefully reaching out to a wider audience.

So I just wanted to share a quick idea of some things I'd like to change, and some updates I'd like to make.

1. I'd obviously like to have a more dedicated posting schedule. For right now, the Plan is 5 times a week. Tuesday - Saturday.

2. I'd like to diversify my subject matter. I care about so much more than food. Home design, television, movies, Photography, BOOKS, and of course healthy living. So I plan on starting some regular features to help create a wider range of material.

3. Upping my photo skills. I was a photography major in college. Crappy Iphone photography on every single post is unacceptable. I'm going to start trying to take better photographs, and using my actual DSLR. I just really really need to get some better lighting for my house, and a macro lens.

4. Be real. That's what I love the most about the blogs I read regularly. They're just real people sharing things they're interested in. They make it personal, but not too personal. They show you how you can do anything they can do.

I'll be moving my posts from the old site over to here soon, so no worries. If you'd like to see an old recipe. They'll be up here soon.

So I hope you'll join me on this journey. Come back tomorrow for a new post, with some actual content!
